SUMMARY:The Ninth Symphony / Beethoven Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The performance of the ‘Ninth Symphony’ will be staged at the monumental finale of the Beethoven Marathon as a big open-air concert at the Petrovaradin Fortress on 26 June at 8.22 p.m.\nThe Beethoven Marathon will start on 26 June from morning until evening hours., when the Belgrade and Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestras will alternately perform eight symphonies in the Novi Sad City Concert Hall, with several breaks.\nThe culmination of the Beethoven Marathon will be the ‘Ninth Symphony’ and the famous ‘Ode to Joy’, in honour of Europe and European heritage, which will be jointly performed by the Belgrade and Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestras, Slovak Philharmonic Choir, and four soloists from the Netherlands, Austria, and the USA.\nBeethoven’s music, especially Symphony no. 9 with Schiller’s verses of Ode to Joy represents the ideal of brotherhood and unity of humanity. At the same time, as the anthem of Europe, it connects the peoples of the Old Continent as one of the most famous examples of European musical heritage. Beethoven’s music itself represents the concept of peace, but also of unity, because a symphonic instrumental work received ‘reinforcement’ in the form of voices – solo, but also choral. That is why the Fortress of Peace ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/fortress-of-peace/ ) is the proper programme arch for the Beethoven Marathon.\nConductor: Gabriel Feltz\nSoloists: Soprano – Anna Malesza-Kutny\nMezzo-soprano – Michaela Selinger\nTenor – Young Woo Kim\nBass – Robert Bork\nAdmission to the open-air concert is free, while tickets for the concerts in the City Concert Hall are on sale, for each of the four concerts separately, and as of today, they are available at all Gigs Tix outlets, as well as on their website ( http://gigstix.com/ns2022 ).\nPhoto: Promo\n
