SUMMARY:Playing Reality / The Invasion (UPAD)
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Playing Reality’ play will be performed as part of the ‘Upad’ theatre festival and we will be able to see it at the SCC Fabrika ( http://www.skcns.org/fabrika/ ) on 13 May at 8 p.m. The ‘Upad’ Festival ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/invasion/ ) will be implemented as part of the Future of Europe ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/future-of-europe/ ) programme arch from 9 to 15 May.\nTaking children’s games as its starting research material, this dance performance is created at the intersection of play and performance, playfulness and dance. The author’s team was on the one hand dedicated to choreographic analysis of formal aspects of individual games, their variations, exceptions and rules, and on the other hand dealt with the impact on the affective world of children’s games and the atmosphere in which they take place, thus re-examining the repercussions of their transformation into performance or dance material.\nPantomime, hide and seek, twister, broken phone, grasshopper and many other, often forgotten, sometimes fictional games have become fertile ground for constructing a modular matrix that functions as a kind of gaming machine that dynamically brings short, sometimes flashy, sometimes unrecognizable, sequences built from abstract elements of individual games to the audience. The tension of waiting for the final outcome of a game, victory or defeat, is suspended and replaced by another type of performance tension that is built by the gradual accumulation of diverse material that offers an increasingly complex reconstruction of the game world.\nThe play was created according to the idea of Koraljka Begović, and Jasna Jasna Žmak did the concept and dramaturgy. Choreography and performance were entrusted to Filipa Bavčević, Koraljka Begović, Nastasja Štefanić and Mia Zalukar. The producer is the Domino Association, and the co-producer is the Association of Croatian Dance Artists in cooperation with the Zagreb Dance Centre.\nYou can find more information on thisisadominoproject.org.\nFor pupils and students, admission is free to all performances, with mandatory beforehand reservation by email to upadfestival@gmail.com.
