DESCRIPTION:The play ‘The Other Map’ will be performed during the ‘Upad’ theatre festival at the SCC Fabrika on 14 May. The ‘Upad’ festival ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/invasion/ ) is part of the Future of Europe. ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/future-of-europe/ )\nAn unofficial map showing other routes: this is the ‘Other Map’, a theatre research and development project focused on the production of a participatory play, using the ‘tourist tour’ format. New maps are being created, based on memories and stories that belong to people in different cities. The work is implemented by Marc Rodrigo – creator and sole member of Colectivo Ameno, and María Stoyanova, artist and theatre director.\n‘We both like to know the different places we go because of the people we interact with, because of their personal stories and not so much because of the tourist spaces that we are supposed to visit. Thus, beyond the official map, the tourist map that can be picked up at tourist offices or institutions in each city, which tells you where to go and where to consume, we are interested in creating ‘other maps’. Maps of personal stories, memories, relationships, of ‘us’ who have been dismantled and that no longer have a voice. A map of the silenced, of the people’s desire to live; an unofficial map that has other routes. Our goal is to create new maps from the memories and stories of the people of different cities. We will connect their private lives with public spaces to reflect on the common, on this disjointed ‘us’.\nThrough this artistic work, we will question the ‘official’ stories of cities; of its buildings, monuments, squares, streets and we will give voice to its people. This ‘other map’ will be created through work with volunteers (professionals and non-professionals in the performing arts, the more varied the better) from each city, who will live an artistic process of scenic creation and artistic expression. ‘The Other Map’ is a critique of a world that is no longer ours, a world that is increasingly destructive and cruel, in which reality is completely confused with capitalism.’\n‘The Other Map’ is co-produced Colectivo Ameno, Udruga Domino from Zagreb, Réseau en Scène Languedoc-Rousillon, Plesni Teatar from Ljubljana and Café de las Artes Teatro from Santander.
