SUMMARY:A Practical Guide to Superstition / The Invasion (UPAD)
DESCRIPTION:We will be able to see the play ‘A Practical Guide to Superstition’ as part of the ‘Upad’ theatre festival at SCC Fabrika ( http://www.skcns.org/fabrika/ ) on 11 May at 8 p.m. The ‘Upad’ Festival ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/events/upad/ ) is part of the Future of Europe ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/buducnost-evrope/ ) programme, which takes place from 9 to 15 May.\nThe contemporary dance performance ‘A Practical Guide to Superstition’ is also the final performance by Katarina Ilijašević at the Belgrade Dance Institute at the Department of Choreography. The play was created under the mentorship of Prof. Snežana Arnautović Stjepanović, PhD, co-mentored by Prof. Ognjen Vučinić and directed by Luka Jovanov.\n‘When fear turns into religion, not all candles can make enough smoke for the message to reach the desired heavenly forces. Then, avoiding ladders becomes life beneath them. We will try to imagine the wish – we need meetings, we need to cuddle and caress each other, to wake up together, because it is stupid to wake up alone on the first of January, it is miserable to be alone, we need the audience to see how joyful we welcome Near Year, another faster than the previous one, to have someone to see how happy we were, how we touched, how we danced, howled, changed music, ate pork, wore red underwear, we need an audience to witness our better selves. We need it in order to meet each other again at dusk, but it is crucial to have someone to tell us later. Therefore, we light candles. Therefore, we are not going anywhere without red thread. That’s why we’re getting together. That is why we bow. And because of that, there is nothing practical in another of the practical guides – we shamelessly made up (almost) everything.’\nProduction: Belgrade Dance Institute. Choreography: Katarina Ilijašević. Cast: Jovana Grujić, Tijana Koprivica, Dika Babić and Đorđe Galić.\nYou can find more information on teatarvuk.rs.\nFor pupils and students, admission is free to all performances, with mandatory beforehand reservation by email to upadfestival@gmail.com.
