DESCRIPTION:Award-winning visual artist Petko Tanchev, from Plovdiv, Bulgaria (ECoC 2019), will open a unique exhibition ‘Tesla – Light Gallery’  ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/tesla-light-gallery/ )in the Suburbium of the Petrovaradin Fortress on 31 December. His performance starts at 9 p.m., after the interactive play ‘Tesla, Inventartist’ ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/tesla-inventarist/ ).\nThe artist, using state-of-the-art technology, creates virtual worlds that disturb our usual perception of physical reality. His work is focused on the creation of media content in real time for interactive installations and project mapping, by combining hardware devices and software for visual programming. Most of his projects are site-specific, focused on art in a public environment.\nTanchev worked as a media artist, creative technologist and set designer, with the main focus on installing interactive digital installations for live performances. Moreover, he did numerous projects exhibited in galleries, museums and festivals on an international level. His work comprises a wide range of industries – from art and culture to mainstream and entertainment. He currently works as a set designer in the State Opera Plovdiv.\nThe entrance is free of charge.\n\nThe ‘Tesla Light Gallery’ ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/tesla-light-gallery/ ) is a product of the creative synergy of several famous international artists from different cities, who are proud of the European Capital of Culture title. A group of artists will take citizens through the inspiring spaces of the Baroque town, transformed through powerful art interventions. Space installations will reveal the different aspects of light as a tool for artistic expression that puts into focus diverse Tesla’s discoveries, as well as Tesla’s unfulfilled dreams.\nThe Rainbow Bridge, historic buildings in Beogradska Street and the Belgrade Gate itself – all architectural objects we will pass by – will be transformed into a monumental play of light, movement and sound through fixed, dynamic, wireless and interactive audio-visual lighting technologies, including 3D projections.
