DESCRIPTION:You will have an opportunity to see the installation by Alberto Novello, Italian scientist, composer and multimedia artist, entitled ‘Laser Drawing’ in Prote Mihaldžića Square, on 31 December at 11:15 p.m. The performance is part of the unrepeatable exhibition ‘Tesla – Light Gallery’ implemented within the Doček programme arch.\nAlberto Novello is known for reusing found or deconstructed analogue devices from the past (oscilloscopes, early gaming consoles, video mixers and lasers) for the purpose of exploring the link between sound and light in the shape of contemplative installations and performances.\nDuring the performance, the artist makes drawings with synthesizer, i.e., uses sound from his modular synthesizer to control the laser light, thus creating curved shapes with vivid colours. Novello’s laser drawing is an analogue audio-visual improvisation that connects sound and light in a real-life experience. The author calls it ‘visual listening’, i.e., a deeper understanding of sound thanks to visualisation through light.\nAlberto Novello’s main artistic focus is on creating probabilistic multimedia architectures, the technological border between instability and error, failure and expression.\nThe entrance is free of charge.\n\nThe ‘Tesla Light Gallery’ ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/tesla-light-gallery/ ) is a product of the creative synergy of several famous international artists from different cities, who are proud of the European Capital of Culture title. A group of artists will take citizens through the inspiring spaces of the Baroque town, transformed through powerful art interventions.\nSpace installations will reveal the different aspects of light as a tool for artistic expression that puts into focus diverse Tesla’s discoveries, as well as Tesla’s unfulfilled dreams.\nThe Rainbow Bridge, historic buildings in Beogradska Street and the Belgrade Gate itself – all architectural objects we will pass by – will be transformed into a monumental play of light, movement and sound through fixed, dynamic, wireless and interactive audio-visual lighting technologies, including 3D projections.
