SUMMARY:The Roman Army and Southern Pannonia / Where Migrations End: From Roman Pannonia to Today’s Vojvodina
DESCRIPTION:The lecture ‘The Roman Army and Southern Pannonia – Conquest, Consolidation of Roman Power and Determining the Border during the First Century’ led by Ivan Radman, PhD, will be held during the exhibition ‘Where Migrations End: From Roman Pannonia to Today’s Vojvodina’ at the Museum of Vojvodina, from 7 p.m. \nThe establishment of the Roman rule followed the conquest of the Roman army – this is not only a matter of perception of the general public, more or less interested in the Roman history but also a fact with which historians and archaeologists would principally agree. The principle also applies to this region: the Roman army first conquered Pannonia, then laid the foundations for consolidating the Roman rule, playing a key factor in Romanisation, and serving as the guardian of the newly established borders of the empire.\nPhoto: Vladimir Veličković\n
