SUMMARY:From Zero to One
DESCRIPTION:The ‘From Zero to One’ exhibition will be opened in the Mercator on 14 October as part of the Kaleidoscope of Culture ( https://kaleidoskopkulture.com/en/ ).\nIn the series of works ‘From Zero to One’, the primary goal is the visual exploration of the artistic and aesthetic potential of objects that have been discarded or lost their original function, and which are modified and constructed into compositions in accordance with the exhibition space.\nThe issue of product consumption in a consumerist society is shifted into a creative process that, through artistic practice, re-examines the artistic product, i.e., its present-day appearance, function, interactivity with the audience and the duration of its construction.\nThe first phase of the project is the observation of the artistic potential of the objects, which, based on colour, form, dimension, form a segment of an artistic composition that is variable, arbitrary in relation to the space or surface on which it is built.\nThe second phase is to observe the quantity and similarity of the coloured objects, and then to observe the factory recalls in printing and production. This is how collections within a collection are created, i.e. subcategories of objects that are of the same colour, produced according to the same principle, i.e. from the same serial production, but with noticeable variations. Based on that, I form the next phase.\nReading the colour code of each item, the item itself becomes a colour-carrying label, which is used in the creation of new variations. By scanning the colour of the object, a colour code is obtained, which is printed on several printing machines. Each machine gives a different product with the same command, depending on its condition, colour quality and the quality of the machine itself. In this manner, the audience participates in expanding the collection by scanning the desired colour (with the object brought to the sensor), and the printers make a print of that colour. In this phase, the analogue passes through the digital, and again gives an analogue colour sample as a verification of the variables of digital printing and series editions. Due to the imperfection of the sensor and the printing equipment, the new colour always deviates from the original (even in almost barely visible changes), so that by repeating the procedure multiple times, a different result is obtained each time, moving away from the original colour pattern. Each item in the collection, apart from representing a unit value in the composition, can also be a sample that realizes an experiment of multiplication or presentation of new colours based on already existing ones.\nDepending on the space itself, the amount of works, part of the collection, which would be exposed and which would build a wall composition that could also serve as a sample for the interactive part of the work consisting of a colour sensor, a microcomputer and printers that would be during the exhibition they worked and produced new works, is determined.\nThe event is accessible to people with physical disabilities.\nThe partner of the Visual Arts Week is DDOR osiguranje ( https://www.ddor.rs/ ).\nPhoto: Promo\n
