SUMMARY:Charade / Booktown
DESCRIPTION:The screening of the film Charade will take place at SPENS Amphitheatre, on 18 September, as part of the Kaleidoscope of Culture’s Booktown ( https://kaleidoskopkulture.com/en/kaleidoscope-calendar-literature/ ).\nCharade is a 1963 American feature film directed by Stanley Donen. The protagonists are an American woman (played by Audrey Hepburn) living in Paris, who shortly after the sudden death of her husband finds out that he was involved in some dark affairs, as well as the mysterious and charming Peter Joshua (played by Cary Grant) whom she had met on a winter vacation. The film was a great success, featuring an unusual mix of thriller and screwball comedy genres, Henry Mancini’s music, and an animated post-credit sequence. The role is often considered one of Cary Grant’s last major ones, while his co-star Hepburn received high praises for hers. The movie is also referred to as the best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock did not make.\n
