DESCRIPTION:The play Captain Nemo, based on the novel 20,000 miles under the sea, directed by Zoltan Puskas, will be performed on April 25 at the Novi Sad Theater, starting at 7 p.m. \nMelting icebergs, extinct animal species, sunken empires, the sound of gunfire and the first ever singing submarine – Novi Sad Theater presents a musical for the whole family, Captain Nemo, based on Jules Verne’s novel: 20,000 miles under the sea. \nZoltan Puskaš, director: This contemporary musical brings us an exciting story that also touches on current social problems. This play has a really interesting and deep story – its central theme is the mysterious life of Captain Nemo, as well as his „migration“ from the land to the depths of the sea, that is, escaping from wars and problems. The motifs of the lost city and melting icebergs characterize environmental problems, while Nemo’s „barge“ that gave a home to exiles and socially excluded people shows the importance of acceptance and good interpersonal relations. The ideal society in a submarine is an interesting idea that is crowned with the ideal of happiness and acceptance. Fear, ignorance, and the fear of the unknown seem to drive people to destroy what is unknown to them. Analyzing deep and current issues, this musical tells an exciting story at the same time. \nRobert Lenard, adaptation: Jules Verne’s character Captain Nemo is a more contemporary figure than we think. This is a man who hated the terrestrial world and ran away from humanity into the depths of the sea. This is the man who replaced earthly silence with the eternal realm of music in his Nautilus submarine. This is a man who gathered eccentrics like himself and uses the energy of the seabed to survive.
