SUMMARY:The Story of the Bori Family / Diaries of Migration: Notes on Novi Sad Families
DESCRIPTION:‘The Story of the Bori Family’ panel will be held at ‘Prometej’ Gallery on 1 March, at 6 p.m. The Bori family is one out of the four Novi Sad’s families which will be represented through the exhibition ‘Diaries of Migration: Notes on Novi Sad Families’ ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/diaries-of-migration-notes-on-novi-sad-families/ ), which is being realized within the Migrations ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/migrations/ ) programme arch.\nThe Bori family settled in Novi Sad after the Second World War. Its most prominent member Imre Bori (1929 – 2004), a literary historian, was a professor at the Department of Hungarian Language and Literature (at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad). He was born in Bačko Gradište, and received his educated in Bečej and Senta, where he finished high school, then he graduated from the Higher Pedagogical School in Novi Sad (1954). He got a job at the Department of Hungarian Language, where he graduated and received his doctorate (1964). He taught the history of Hungarian literature of the 20th century and was later the head of this department. In 1991, he was elected a regular member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He has published a number of books and scientific papers. He was an exceptional person of the Hungarian cultural life in Novi Sad.\nHe won the October Award of the City of Novi Sad (1968), the Literary Award of the magazine Híd (1965, 1969, 1971), Szenteleky Cornel (1973), the Order of Labor of the People’s Republic of Hungary of the Golden Degree (1980) and the Széchenyi Award (2003).\nHis daughter Ózer Ágnes, PhD, continued the tradition of engaging in scientific work, giving a significant contribution to the research of the history of our city, spending her working life in the City Museum of Novi Sad.\nIn addition to family members, Mr Bordás Győző, former director of the publishing house ‘Forum’, will take part in the accompanying program.\nPhoto: Promo\n
