DESCRIPTION:Guest appearance of Kristian Novak within the contemporary pavilion of literature ‘Migration of Souls – Novi Sad in Books’, previously scheduled for 9 March, was unfortunately canceled due to the writer’s illness. We look forward to a new opportunity to host Novak if circumstances allow. Instead, the writer Darko Cvijetić ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/darko-cvijetic-migration-of-souls-novi-sad-through-literature/ ) will present himself at the same time, at 6 p.m.\nKristian Novak is a Croatian writer, linguist and university professor. He was born in Germany, but spent his childhood and youth in a small village in Međimurje, in the northern part of Croatia. He moved to Zagreb when he started college. His novel Črna mati zemla (2013) won the Croatian Novel of the Year award and is considered one of the best Croatian novels in the last 50 years. A film adaptation of this novel is underway, after a successful theatrical adaptation. His third novel, Ciganin, ali najlepši (2016) brought him the second prize for the best Croatian novel of the year, as well as two other prestigious national awards, ‘Ksaver Šandor Gjalski’ and ‘Fran Galović’.\nThe exhibition Migration of Souls – Novi Sad through Literature’  celebrates the book as a civilizational and cultural object through strong visual narratives and interventions. During the exhibition ‘Migration of Souls — Novi Sad through Literature’ in the Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair, we will host contemporary regional writers such as  Rumena Bužarovska, Milica Vučković ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/milica-vuckovic-migration-of-souls-novi-sad-through-literature/ ), Damir Karakaš ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/damir-karakas-migration-of-souls-novi-sad-through-literature/ ), Miljenko Jergović  ( https://kalendar.novisad2022.rs/en/events/miljenko-jergovic-migration-of-souls-novi-sad-through-literature/ ) and Darko Cvijetić.\nPartner of the Migration of Souls programme is the Novi Sad Fair ( https://sajam.net/sr/ ), and the companies Globos osiguranje ( https://www.globos.rs/sr/pocetna ) and Dijamant DOO ( https://www.dijamant.rs/ ) also provide support.\nPhoto: Robert Gojević\n
