Amnesia
The film screenings of the ‘Amnesia’ project will be held on the plateau in front of the Svilara Cultural Station on 5 July at 8.15 p.m. The film screenings will be preceded by the opening speech at 8 p.m., while after the screenings, at 9.20 p.m., the audience will have a chance to discuss the two films with the producers.
The film and dialogue programme tries to offer a new perspective on the turbulent and often forgotten history of the German population in Vojvodina in the period 1941-1948.
The two refreshing perspectives of young documentary artists will prepare reflection through two original films – ‘Eigentlich vergangen/Far from the Past’ directed by Nicole Foelsterl (duration: 15 minutes), which carefully reveals a part of her family history, and a creepy, poetic documentary by Tea Lukač ‘Affiliation’ (duration: 50 minutes) which reunites abandoned spaces with the voices of contemporaries of that period.
After the film screenings, the directors and audience will open a discussion about amnesia, remembrance, suffering and guilt. How can we remember, individually and as a group, and how can we shape a shared future?
