Short Reports Band
A concert by the band Short Reports will be held in the Creative District on 3 September at 9 p. m., within the Kaleidoscope of Culture.
The band Short Reports was formed in October 2019 in Novi Sad by Nikolet Feher (drums) and Nemanja Velimirović (guitar and vocals). Nikolet and Nemanja met in April of the same year and after a few months of living together, the idea of forming a rock duo arose, where two instruments, through a minimalistic approach to rhythm and an expressive approach to melodies and lyrics, would create a sound image and emotion that the two of them carry inside. The lyrics, which are in English, deal with universal topics that people generally dislike talking about, that are not common, even though they are part of every person’s everyday life. In the instrumental sense, Niki and Nemanja construct complementary rhythms and melodies without reference to music theory and with the need to explore the possibilities of drums, guitars, and vocals where effects and additional auxiliary technical means are minimally used. The songs take on a short form, without unnecessary parts, and with direct lyrics.
Through the initial philosophy of ‘less is more’, the sound of the band was slowly defined during the daily rehearsals where the songs from the first album were created. Their album Cats VS Dogs was recorded during the summer of 2020 and produced during the fall and winter of the same year and 2021. The song Connection was chosen from the album, as their first single, for which they also filmed a music video.
In 2021, Short Reports won first place at the May Guitar Festival (Majska gitarijada) from the jury and the audience, and immediately after, they recorded their first live stream concert at Dom b-612 in Novi Sad. In June 2021, the band released their second music video for the single Bad Side. This was followed by a series of concerts in 2021, of which the joint performance in Banja Luka at DKC Incel with the group Artan Lili as well as the performance with the bands Funk Shui and Ego in Niška Banovina stand out. The band released their first album Cats VS Dogs in November 2021 on all digital platforms.
At the beginning of 2022, they released their third music video, for the song Standoff, and in February 2022, Short Reports represented Novi Sad as the European Capital of Culture in Luxembourg (Esch 2022 – REMIX Festival). In addition to the promotion of the album in Novi Sad and Belgrade, during the spring of 2022, the band performed in more than ten cities all over ex-Yugoslavia, where the concert in Zagreb at Mesnička Cultural Centre in March 2022 was the highlight, followed by performances in Đakovo and Požega. In March, the fourth video for the song Goodbye from the album Cats VS Dogs was also released.
After a spring tour that included 20 cities in the region and Europe, the band is currently working on a second album as well as some new music videos.
