Sava Šumanović – A Painter with Constructivist Approach / Sava Šumanović and European Realism Between the Two World Wars
A lecture by Ana Ereš, PhD, entitled ‘Sava Šumanović – A Painter with Constructivist Approach’, within the ‘Sava Šumanović and European Realism Between the Two World Wars’ exhibition, will take place at the Gallery of Matica Srpska on 17 November at 7 p.m.
Since its appearance in the Yugoslav public, Šumanović’s artwork has been highly noticed in art criticism and theory as a representative example of modern artistic aspirations. A lecture on critical theoretical approaches that laid the foundations for understanding the artist’s painting process and his conceptual explanations, as well as interpretations of the term constructive painting, which is accepted as a dominant determinant for new phenomena in art in the former Yugoslavia during the third decade of the 20th century, will be held by Ana Ereš, PhD, a research associate at the Department for Art History of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade.
