Performance “guitARevolution” | Kaleidoscope of Culture 2024

The multimedia project “guitARevolution” presents contemporary guitar art to the audience within completely new frameworks of augmented reality (AR), in line with Novi Sad’s membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. This performance will be part of the performing arts week of Kaleidoscope of Culture, and visitors will have the opportunity to experience it on 20th September at 8 PM in the District, at the Biro venue.

In collaboration between the cities of Novi Sad and Sarajevo, and two guitar festivals, “Vojvodina Guitar Fest” and the “Sarajevo International Guitar Festival”, the project showcases the performance and cooperation of artists from these cities through the execution of open, graphic scores and free improvisation.

The musical ensemble, consisting of Marija Rašić (guitar), Karolina Bater (flutes), Svetlana Petrović (flute), and Adnan Alagić (guitar), will collaborate with AR artist Dejan Ilić to create a unique audio-visual performance. This will be inspired by graphic scores, featuring electro-acoustic pieces, compositions with live electronics, open scores, and free improvisation.

During the performance, the audience will be able to use their mobile phones, through their camera lenses, to follow visuals that will react to and change in response to the music being performed, thus shaping a coherent audio-visual artistic whole.

The project is realised with the support of the City of Novi Sad’s Department of Culture.
