Folk Costumes as a Mirror of Identity – Similarity and Differences

The seminar ‘Folk Costumes as a Mirror of Identity – Similarity and Differences’ is part of the project ‘Following the Thread’ that is implemented within the Migrations programme arch. The seminar will be held in the Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad, on 5 February, at 10 a.m.

‘Folk Costumes as a Mirror of Identity – Similarity and Differences’ is the seminar dedicated to the members of the folklore ensembles, art directors of cultural-artistic societies, choreographers, dressers and interested public experts. The lecturers will talk about folk costumes as a mirror of identity, the influence of migrations on folk costumes of their communities, practices and perspectives on preservations of folk costumes as a specific type of heritage.

Participants and lecturers of the seminar are Aleksandra Dobrin, Milan Stepanov, Ivan Terzić, Josip Forjan, Goran Kovačević, Zdenka Opšust and Emil Rupa.

During the seminar, the promotion of a multimedia edition ‘An Alphabet of Costumes – For Beginners’ will also be held.

Within the ‘Following the Thread’ project, the exhibition of the same name will open in the cultural and educational institution Cultural Centre ‘Mladost’, Futog, on 10 February at 7 p.m., and will last until 10 March.
