Vintage Theatre – Workshops for Empowering the Elderly and Acquiring Acting Skills
The Vintage Theatre is a project within the Other? Europe programme arch and includes a set of workshops for empowering the elderly population through learning acting skills, which will result in a play implemented by the Senior Pensioners Association and the Mafin Association for the Production of Audio-Visual Products. The workshops will be held at the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad from 1 March to 1 August.
The idea of the project is to examine the rite of passage through artistic process work, both from the anthropological-artistic, and from the contemporary social and cultural view. The Vintage Theatre project actively involves people born mainly in the ’50s (as well as in the’ 30s, ’40s and’ 60s) in the theatrical work and process. The system of values, political and social attitudes, attitude towards social life, taboos and stereotypes related to these vintage generations are the starting point for creative questioning and relation to the present time and younger generations.
The focus of the interactive parts of the play will be on the topic of aging, personal aging, loneliness, the position of the elderly in society, media propaganda and stereotypes related to old age and the elderly
