The Forest Queen
The premiere of the new opera production by the famous poet and writer Franjo Štefanović, ‘The Forest Queen’ will be performed at the Egység Cultural Station on 8 May at 6 p.m., within the ‘Fairy Tales of the Future’ programme unit.
The opera is performed by children themselves for its entire duration.
The opera runs on the occasion of this year’s centenary of its first staging.
The director of the new line-up is Igor Pavlović, the conductor and music director Ana Kovačić, while the soloists and the choir are composed of the students of the ‘Isidor Bajić’ Music School.
The illustrations were done by Vladimir Radibratović, and the design and equipment by Luka Prstojević.
The performance is preceded by the promotion of the publication ‘The Phenomenon of Children’s Operas by Franjo Štefanović’ dealing with the authentic cultural phenomenon of children’s opera in the history of Petrovaradin and Novi Sad and by two workshops on environmental sustainability and environmental protection. A post-performance debate will enable the audience to discuss their impressions.
The event is accessible to people with disabilities.
