Sarajevo Sephardic Culture / Synagogue – A Meeting place
The Culture of Sarajevo Sephardim programme includes the presentation of Jewish culture, heritage, and traditions through gastronomy and will be realized within the framework of the project Synagogue – A Meeting Place, on 17 June at the Svilara Cultural Station. The project is part of the Fortress of Peace programme arch and is organized by the Jewish Community of Novi Sad.
The Jewish Community of Novi Sad will present the Culture of Sarajevo Sephardim through a gastronomic event with Mirjam Tauber and the students of the High School ‘Svetozar Miletić’, who will prepare a Sephardic dish together.
Dr Eli Tauber will talk about the traditional and contemporary life of Jewish men in Sarajevo. This concept seeks to connect the legacy of tradition (whose organic development was interrupted by the Holocaust) with what is a living tradition among Sarajevo’s Sephardim. Sarajevo, as a significant centre of Jewish life, both for women and men, will be, in a way, a paradigm of one of the Jewish cultural traditions.
