A Short Documentary BIOFABRIKA 2022
Welcome to the final event of the ‘BIOFABRIKA’ project that will take place in the Egység Cultural Station on 22 September at 8.22 p.m. (20.22). On this occasion, we will be presenting a short documentary and a catalogue, which completes all the activities of a nine-month work on the project.
Numerous artists and experts, educators, both foreign and local, participated in the project: curators, designers, artists, microbiologists, architects, etc. In a short documentary, you will have an opportunity to hear and see some parts of the activities, experiences, and opinions on the project among the participants.
We would like to remind you that the project ‘BIOFABRIKA’ represents artistic production in the form of experiments, where a completely new, biodegradable, and sustainable material, SCOBY, is being used and processed. The main purpose of the material is to offer alternative solutions with the aim to preserve the environment, as, for example, replacing plastic, which is the biggest pollutant on the planet. Furthermore, its great potential in replacing textiles has also been discovered.
The SCOBY material within the ‘BIOFABRIKA’ projects has been promoted through several phases: within the workshops on making the material with the students of the ‘Bogdan Šuput’ Secondary School for Design; through the presentation of the concept of biodegradable design; through several solo and group exhibitions and site-specific actions, panel discussions and at the very end, through a panel discussion by presenting a documentary about the processes created during the project.
Partners of the project are ‘Bogdan Šuput’ Secondary School for Design and the Shock Gallery.
