Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra
After a series of attractive musical and stage performances, the extraordinary group from Barcelona is again embarking on a world tour, and one of the stops will be Novi Sad, so the men and women of Novi Sad will once again have the opportunity to listen to the enticing rhythms of the internationally popular band Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra, who will perform at to SPENS on May 27, 2023.
Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra is specific and recognizable because through their music you can hear the magical tones of jazz, Roma, klezmer and other types of music, and it draws influences from the tones of Eastern Europe, South America, Spain and the Middle East. Their performance of the famous Romani song Đelem, Đelem on the YouTube platform has over 10 million views. The band members themselves come from different parts of the world, and the composition includes nomadic, rotating musicians. This international band has toured the whole world with their performances, and in May 2023, they will make an unforgettable tour, and no one will be able to resist their rhythms.
The band is based in Barcelona and currently performs with eight members on stage: Margherita Abita (vocals, Italy), Pere Nolasc (violin, Catalonia), Fernando Salinas (accordion, Spain), Julien Canal (guitar, France), Ivan Kovačević (double bass , Serbia) and Stelios Togjas (percussion, Greece,) Xavi Pendón (clarinet, Spain). Ivan is a native of Belgrade who has been living in Barcelona for almost two decades and forms the band Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra with his friends.
At the end of 2020, this band released the album “Nova Era” with the new singer Margerita Abita from Sicily, with whom he released a cover of the “gem” of Balkan music Marijo deli bela Kumrijo and the famous song Silvana Armenulić Ciganine sviraj, sviraj.
For this occasion, they will be joined by Borislav Bora Dugić, a famous Serbian musician, flautist who is recognized all over the world. He is the winner of numerous awards and this time he will be accompanied by his usual, recognized collaborator, Serbian accordionist Boban Prodanović.
