Beyond Zero 1914-1918

A concert ‘Beyond Zero’ will be held in the Synagogue on 15 July at 9 p.m. as part of the the Fortress of Peace programme arch.

The concert will feature an anti-war composition by Alekandra Vrebalov, which has achieved great international success and appears in the film by the famous American director Bill Morrison. While working on the composition, the world-famous Novi Sad composer, Aleksandra Vrebalov, was inspired by anti-war prose and poetry, music and art created during or immediately after the First World War (Wilfred Owen, Eric Satie, Claude Debussy). The work contains audio recordings dating from the wars that marked the 20th century, starting from the Great War, through the Second World War, all the way to the civil war that led to the disintegration of the SFRY.

The work will be performed by the Acies Quartett, and the culmination will be the chanting of monks from the Kovilj monastery, which summarizes the memory of all those who died in the First World War, as well as in all the wars that followed.

Free entrance.

The programme is supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum.
