Chameleons Exhibition

The Chameleons exhibition, by artist Anđela Kopanja, will be held as part of the seventh Kaleidoscope of Culture programme at CS Barka on 6 October at 8 p.m.

Welcome to the world of chameleons, animals known for their ability to change colors and adapt to their environment.

The multimedia work Chameleons consists of a video installation, sound, and interactive mirrors that create reflections in the space and display segments of the video work from different perspectives. The video was created through a combination of images on a platinum medium generated into short video clips using AI technology. By depicting dynamic scenes from a nightclub environment, the work speaks about the constant changes that individuals must respond to in order to survive.

The chameleon’s ability to change the color of its skin in response to its environment reminds us of everyday life, where we often ’camouflage’ ourselves to fit in, protect ourselves, or meet expectations. Adaptation is both empowering and challenging, as individuals constantly balance between inner needs and external demands. Thus, in today’s society, camouflage becomes a valued skill that symbolizes our ability to adapt and survive. The installation is not just for observation but brings experience, urging you to free your senses and discover for yourself where the illusion ends and your reality begins.
