Through a conceptually framed repertoire and the discourse of free improvisation, the project actualizes the act of independent performing practice.
With the premiere presentation of the poetics of European female composers established on a global scale (Rebecca Saunders, Kaija Saariaho, Olga Neuwirth), it positions the local musical milieu in the repertoire spectrum of current European contemporary creativity in the field of art music, and through an improvised discourse initiates a dialogue of music creators in the field of contemporary music on the local scene.
The project programme is carried out through a concert performance of pieces for flute, its variants (bass flute and piccolo flute) and free improvisation with electronics.
Based on the historical composition of Kaija Saariaho, the conceptual premise interprets the creative process as a dolce tormento – as a separate life between the artistic drive and the struggle for its freedom.
