drumbooty / Flags of the Future

The ‘Flags of the Future’ programme will begin with a unique jazz marathon of the European Capitals of Culture in the Creative District on 28 April.

The band drumbooty will perform on Stage 4 at 8 p.m.

During the several-hour programme, the audience from Novi Sad will be introduced to seven young jazz ensembles from past, present, and future European Capitals of Culture. This concert evening will show new tendencies and directions in European jazz music to a wider audience.

The band drumbooty is a new author’s project by the most sought-after drummer from our region, Peđa Milutinović. This six-member band is characterized by an energetic and melodic fusion of jazz, electronics, hip hop and afrobeat, which is impossible to remain indifferent to. The band was founded in 2020 after the release of Milutinović’s first album ‘Veritas Vincit’ for Orenda records from Los Angeles, which features world stars such as David Binney, Ron Warburg, Pero Krstajić.

In addition to Milutinović on drums, the band includes our excellent saxophonist Luka Ignjatović, a professor at FMU, on keyboards are leaders of the new generation of jazz musicians Stevan Milijanović and Bojan Cvetković, whose different styles turn into perfect alchemy on stage, Akoš Forgačna on the bass guitar complements groove with a modern approach he brings from Berkeley and the New York jazz scene, and the talented young guitarist, Luka Malko. In addition to solo performances, the band has so far collaborated with the popular hip-hop band Prti Bee Gee, which has resonated well with the public. The band will present songs from the first album, as well as songs that will be on the new album about to be released in early 2022.

In addition to them, the following bands will perform during the evening: Arthur Possing Quartet as a representative of Esch 2022, Any Key Trio as a representative of Tartu 2024, Kijube as a representative of Veszprém-Balaton 2023, Hauptman as a representative of Maribor 2012, Purple is the Color as a representative of Linz 2009.
