Exhibition Miloš Bajić: Dream of Freedom
The exhibition Miloš Bajić: Dream of Freedom is open to visitors from December 6, 2024, to February 2, 2025, at the Gallery of Matica Srpska.
The exhibition presents the life and artistic development of Miloš Bajić through numerous works, with a special emphasis on drawings created during his imprisonment in Mauthausen, one of the most brutal concentration camps, as well as paintings produced after his liberation. Its concept highlights the tragic fate of Bajić’s war years and his abstract works that symbolized artistic freedom.
The exhibition features over one hundred works from various museum collections, including the National Museum of Serbia, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, the Military Museum, the Branko Ćopić Foundation at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Contemporary Gallery in Subotica, the Contemporary Gallery of the Artistic Colony of Ečka in Zrenjanin, the Gallery of Fine Arts – Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzić, the Rima Gallery, and Nikola Tesla Elementary School in Bačka Topola. In addition to works from museum collections, numerous pieces from the private collections of Miloš Bajić’s descendants will be displayed.
Throughout the exhibition, which runs until February 2, 2025, a rich accompanying program will include various lectures, curator-led tours, and film screenings every Friday at 7:00 p.m. Details about the program can be followed on the official website and social media channels of the Gallery of Matica Srpska.
