Exhibition The Warehouse of Memories | Kaleidoscope of Culture 2024
The exhibition of works by Serbian artist Aleksandar Dimitrijević, titled “The Warehouse of Memories” will open on 6th September at Radionica, starting at 7 PM, as part of the Week of Applied Arts during the seventh Kaleidoscope of Culture in Novi Sad.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the exhibition until 11th September. The exhibition is open every day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The Warehouse of Memories” is Dimitrijević’s latest series, exploring themes of free time, the status of professional artists, and the public’s reception of art. The works, resulting from twenty years of artistic practice, question “What is a painting today?”
The artist explains that the large-scale paintings on a white background are fragments of everyday life where materials are recombined, erased, and transformed into representations that transcend the narratives surrounding daily existence.
The exhibition will also feature the video work Tegla, which showcases the process of a gigantic 2.4×4 metre painting being dismantled into three jars, raising questions about the commodification of art.
Admission is free.
As the region’s premier art event and leading European trendsetter, the Kaleidoscope of Culture, in its seventh edition, brings together global stars, giants of Serbian art, emerging creators, and the independent art scene.
