Film Kuden & Kenta Kambara and Performance The Sun / Seize the Film
Japanese artist Kenta Kambara will guest at the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, during the closing ceremony of the film programme of the final arch Other? Europe ‘Seize the Film’, on 16 October.
After the film screening of the movie Kuden&Kenta Kambara in which Kenta is the main actor, we will get to enjoy his live performance for the Novi Sad audience The Sun.
‘If I can make these people think that disabilities are interesting, that diversity is cool, then my performance will have been a success,’ said Kambara.
Kenta is a Japanese performer who, with his art, wants to influence the change of the public’s perspective towards people with disabilities. He performed at the closing of the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016 and at the opening of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. To Novi Sad audiences he is known for the film Wheelchair Dance which was shown in 2018 at the Seize the Film festival.
Seize the Film is the only regional film festival on the theme of disability. For 20 years, it has been successfully held in Novi Sad and organised by KAO Parnas. Since 2011 it is also being held in Rijeka, under the organisation of Spirit Association, and since 2017 in Banja Luka as well, under the leadership of the humanitarian organisation Partner, and in Kotor helped by ART 365 from Podgorica.
This year’s 20th Seize the Film is the most accessible film festival in the region, as it is accessible to people with physical disabilities, the blind and the deaf. The goal of the festival is the affirmation of domestic and foreign feature, documentary, and animated films, whose actors are persons with disabilities, as well as the promotion of opportunities and challenges for persons with disabilities (with special reference to groups that are marginalised in more ways) through art.
The performance of this extraordinary artist was supported by the EU-Japan Fest Committee, as part of the official programme of the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture Foundation, and the Other? Europe programme arch.
