Found Photography Pop Up Student Exhibition / World Biennale of Student Photography
Japanese artist Rie Yamada, whose solo exhibition will be held in the District from 1 to 8 September, held a workshop with photography students of the Novi Sad Academy of Arts on the topic of ‘Found Photography’.
The works created at the workshop will be shown at a pop-up exhibition on 7 September in the same space next to her works.
The opening and guided tour of the exhibition, where the students will explain their approaches and implementation, is scheduled for 7 September at 6 p.m.
Rie Yamada won the third prize in 2017 at the competition of the same name with the ‘Become a Family’ project. Using old, found photos of ten families – five from Germany and five from Japan – she wittily recreated the past, both as photographer and model. Through mimicry, she revives other people’s family photos, which were once left behind, starting from the idea that family photos, even of complete strangers, reflect our own experiences and memories, thus causing a certain nostalgia and empathy.
