Light in Babylon koncert Karavan

Light in Babylon (Turkey) / New date

The new date for the performance of the Turkish band Light in Babylon has been set for 20 March at 7.30 p.m. in Rumenka Cultural Station.

Along with romantic and exotic tunes from this up-and-coming band, we will also get a chance to try out Southern European culinary specialities from 6 p.m.

Praised by fRoots Magazine as ‘a celebration of the cosmopolitan tradition of both Istanbul and the Sephardic Jewish community and another example of the great music that is coming from the Eastern Mediterranean right now’, Light in Babylon brought to the world scene their first official album ‘Life Sometimes Doesn’t Give You Space’ in 2012 and in November 2016 their new second album ‘Yeni Dunya’ (which means ‘New World’ in Turkish).

The Gastro Migrations project is part of the Migrations programme arch within which we can expect a gastronomic journey. From 17 until 20 March, we’ll visit different European regions in the hopes that food will provide an occasion to consider otherness and difference. Visit our cultural stations and feel the taste of the international spirit of togetherness.

The project includes four days of culinary and musical programmes at the cultural stations of Novi Sad and Zone 021. Each day is dedicated to a programme unit from Europe’s northern, western, southern and eastern regions, both international and regional in character.

In the evenings a programme featuring world music performances will highlight the musical traditions of eastern, western, northern and southern Europe.

You can see the programme on the Caravan page.

The programme is supported by IDEA.
