Good for Life / Danube Dragon

Art installations and photographs created during the implementation of the international volunteer camp ‘Danube Dragon’ will be presented to a wider audience as part of the Fair of Ecology, which will be held in Novi Sad from 28 September to 2 October at the Novi Sad Fair.

The project ‘Danube Dragon’ aims to promote peace, art, and environmental protection and through various activities, it wants to point out the importance of preserving the Danube River.

During the month of July, in the village of Jazak on Fruška Gora Mountain and in Novi Sad, young people from Serbia, Sweden, Japan, Thailand, Russia, Italy and Bulgaria, with the expert help of professional artists, brainstormed together and then created objects, which in addition to artistic values have practical application. During the twelve-day workshop, discarded industrial boilers and other stainless metal waste were restored and upcycled into waste bins. Each bucket represents an ala, i.e., a dragon designed by the participants based on their cultural heritage and origin.

Artistically created buckets, as well as photos documenting the work on their production, will be exhibited in the Aula of the Novi Sad Fair during the duration of The International LORIST fairs – Fair of hunting, fishing, tourism and sport, and the Fair of Ecology.

The installation will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, 2 October.

Everyone who wants to recycle will have the opportunity to enter this fair event for free in exchange for a certain amount of waste.

The Danube Dragon project is being implemented by the Environmental Engineering Group in cooperation with the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022 Foundation and the Young Researchers of Serbia.
