Heroines of Modern Art – Lecture / The Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection

Authors’ interpretation of the exhibition ‘The Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’ will be led by Prof Milanka Todić, PhD, on 9 June at 7 p.m.

The multimedia exhibition ‘The Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’ will take place within the ‘Heroines’ programme arch in the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection from 20 May until 15 July.

One of the authors of the project and catalogue texts, Prof Milanka Todić, PhD, will explain the artistic and social contexts within which female artists from the Pavle Beljanski collection developed and how they fought for their freedom and professional identity. The author will represent their emancipation through education, work, teaching as a profession, work environment, and thematic frameworks. The seven artists represented in the Pavle Beljanski collection are called ‘the heroines of modern art’ by the author because, by breaking down stereotypes and patriarchal taboos, they showed with their works that they were on an equal footing with male authors and that they made crucial movements in the history of the 20th-century Serbian art.

Working hours of the Memorial Collection:
Wednesday – Sunday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday: 1 – 9 p.m.
The entrance is free of charge.
