Hooverphonic
As part of the ECoC Echo program, co-financed by the European Union, and in line with the responsibilities arising from the status of “UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts,” an accolade Novi Sad received in 2023, an artistic program will be held with the aim of further internationalizing the scene. The selection of artists will affirm European partnerships through the ECoC Echo initiative, while the connection between contemporary art and new media forms will be supported by UNESCO’s global recognition.
One of the most recognizable Belgian bands – Hooverphonic – is coming to Novi Sad! They will perform on September 5 at 8 PM at the City Concert Hall. Admission is free with mandatory ticket collection. Tickets can be collected at Gigstix (Kralja Aleksandra 12, Pariski magazin), with a maximum of two per person.
Hooverphonic is a trip-hop band with nearly three decades of creativity, which gained worldwide popularity with the hit “Mad About You” (with more than 200 million views on YouTube) and their performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. Throughout their career, they have developed a distinctive sound – from the dark, subtle trip-hop of their 1996 debut album to a warmer, orchestral expression, imagined as music for a non-existent film. Since the very beginning, the backbone of the band has been Alex Callier (songwriter and producer) and Raymond Geerts (guitarist). Over the years, they have collaborated with many talented singers, and since the fall of 2020, they have once again been performing with the iconic voice of Geike Arnaert.
