Ivan Marušić Klif / Kinetic Rescanning

In his audio-visual installation ‘Kinetic Rescanning’ Ivan Marušić Klif combines analogue video technology from the 70s with contemporary, digital technology. This prominent author will be a part of Doček and unrepeatable exhibition ‘Tesla – Light Gallery’, and you can watch his phenomenal light performance in the Prote Mihaldžića Street, in the Suburbium of Petrovaradin Fortress on 31 December, from 10 p.m.

The installation will be soundless, coming to life only when a visitor nears it. The kinetic sensor exams the position of the visitor, and the movements of their body become parameters in the video synthesizer. The sound that drives the XY screen is aimed at the speakers without any further processing – what you see is what you hear and vice versa.

‘Kinetic Rescanning’ is a performative installation, closely connected to classic video editing, which links the lost instruments of the past to the new toys of the future.

The entrance is free of charge.

Ivan Marušić Klif is a multimedia artist who works in the area of kinetic, light and video installations, sound, music and performances. He actively collaborates with numerous other artists, foremost in theatre plays, dance performances, and musicians who work with audio-visual multidisciplinary forms. He is often commissioned by museums to work on commercial projects, as well as within the creative industry.

He is the CEO of the ‘Vector Hack’ festival in Rijeka. He is the recipient of the Prague Quadrennial award ‘Excellence in Performance Design’ in 2019, the ‘Vladimir Nazor’ award for the best exhibition in 2012, the T-HT’s ‘Audience Award’ in 2012 and 2007, and the ‘26th Youth Salon Award’ in 2001.

The ‘Tesla Light Gallery’ is a product of the creative synergy of several famous international artists from different cities, who are proud of the European Capital of Culture title. A group of artists will take citizens through the inspiring spaces of the Baroque town, transformed through powerful art interventions. Space installations will reveal the different aspects of light as a tool for artistic expression that puts into focus diverse Tesla’s discoveries, as well as Tesla’s unfulfilled dreams.

The Rainbow Bridge, historic buildings in Beogradska Street and the Belgrade Gate itself – all architectural objects we will pass by – will be transformed into a monumental play of light, movement and sound through fixed, dynamic, wireless and interactive audio-visual lighting technologies, including 3D projections. But words are just not enough here: the light gallery is something you must experience live!

Partner in the ‘Tesla Light Gallery’ project is NIS.
