JAL (Josip A Lisac) / Warm Up

Novi Sad’s own Josip A Lisac band will hold a concert within the ‘Warm Up’ festival in public spaces, on Republic Square, on 12 January at 6 p.m.

The band JAL (Josip A Lisac) was created in 2009. The initiator of the idea, the singer-songwriter and composer of most of their tunes is Vedran Ferizović, while the band does all the arrangements. JAL brings together musicians of different playing styles and affinities, and their music cannot be strictly labelled as some of the well-known genres of rock and roll, however, most of their work relies on ska/reggae forms and rhythms.

The sound image of this band is made up of drums, bass, electric guitar, keyboards, acoustic guitar, and the wind section that changes according to the needs of the song or the album. The lyrics explore social themes, love, and urban philosophy, using irony, poetry, rhyme, similes, humour, but mostly wordplays, which is one of the key features of this group, starting from their name.

Besides Vedran Ferizović (vocals and guitar), the band consists of Dejan Zec (bass guitar), Stefan Stanečić (trumpet and backing vocals), Sandra Dropo Ramaji (saxophone and backing vocals), Ratko Madžar (guitar and backing vocals) and Živan Popović (drums).

On 12 January, the ‘Warm Up’ concerts will take place at several locations across the city. Local artists and bands will thus announce the beginning of the title year, which officially begins with the programme in the Serbian National Theatre on 13 January, with the great event outdoors, and concerts at dozens of locations across the city.

The idea is to present Novi Sad through music on 12 January, and in that manner, warm up the citizens of Novi Sad and its guests for the upcoming events. In addition to Zbogom Brus Li, Gift, Love Hunters, UV, Dragon’s Fuel, Šinobusi, Zbogom Brus Li, Stefan i akustični gadovi, Killo Killo Banda, Klo Klo, Atheist Rap, Plavi ptičić, and Josip A Lisac, will perform within the ‘Warm Up’ festival.
