KUDs in the City

‘KUDs in the City’ are a part of the ‘KUD Night’ project, which will be realized within the Migrations programme arch. On 4 and 5 February in several public spots in Novi Sad, the representatives of the folk associations will perform traditional kolos and other dances in public locations, from bus and train stations, shopping malls, university campuses, faculty buildings, facilities for the elderly, bookstores, children’s village, schools…

Do not be surprised, these are flash mobs that can occur where you least expect them!

The Serbian kolo was added to UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017. As a dance performed by dancers who form a chain with each other and move in a circular line holding hands, kolo is one of the most powerful symbols of human movement. ‘Sonja Marinković’, one of the famous Association for Culture and Arts (KUD) in Novi sad, will gather many KUDs from Novi Sad and its surrounding area to give us an opportunity to all walk through the heritage together and observe the migrations through the traditional folk dance and musical expressions of different peoples who inhabit this area.
