Let’s Bridge Cultural Differences
The conference Let’s Bridge Cultural Differences of the European Youth Parliament of Serbia will be held at several locations in Novi Sad from 3 to 13 March. It is a great platform for intercultural dialogue in which over three hundred young people from over thirty-five European countries participate.
‘Let’s Bridge Cultural Differences’ is an international session that will be held in Novi Sad through active engagement and cooperation with over 40 different organizations from the same number of countries. The event will bring together about 300 young participants (16 to 26 years of age) who will have a chance to learn from each other, debate and discuss the common cultural, economic and social challenges they face in their native countries.
They will compare their heritage, languages, practices and habits specific to their communities and enjoy the beauty of a diverse environment. By showing the true strength and abilities of young people, we also show the importance of young people’s voices and bring them closer to decision-makers and intercultural dialogue.
Through the EYP of Serbia conferences, young people get the opportunity to express their thoughts, to hear their peers and to be heard.
With the noticeable increase of migrations and the changing climate of European demography, emerges the need, now greater than ever, for the presence of intercultural understanding. The diversity encompassed by different societies and cultures within these continental borders serves as a basis for the social and economic progress of our living environment. A worrying fact, however, lies in the differences in perspective between different ways of life and heritage. Looking at the wider European picture, we notice huge differences that are embedded in our cultural perspective, regardless of whether there are differences between old and new, rural and urban, traditional and innovative, pro-European and anti-European, majority or minority. Differences in point of view often serve as a starting point for the abolition of dialogue, instead of as a platform for conversation and discussion – which is exactly what we wish to change with this project.
Partner of the Migration of Souls programme is the Novi Sad Fair, and the companies Globos osiguranje and Dijamant DOO also provide support.
