Linija: Exhibition By Slobodan Knežević Abi

The exhibition of works by Slobodan Knežević Abi, called Linija, has opened in the Bel Art Gallery, and visitors can see it until 16 May.

The working hours of the Bel Art Gallery are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Sundays are closed.

The Novi Sad Bel Art Gallery and Belgrade Galerija B2 (members of AUGS – Association of Art Galleries of Serbia) through a joint project and two exhibitions present the work of prominent Novi Sad fine artist Slobodan Knežević Abi. The exhibition in Galerija B2, in Balkanska Street in Belgrade, called ‘Rukotvorine’ and the exhibition called ‘Linija’ in Gallery Bel Art, on Mihajla Pupin Boulevard in Novi Sad, complement each other conceptually and chronologically, providing a complete insight into the rich artistic oeuvre of the author. The works presented at the exhibitions were performed in various techniques and were created in the period from 1976 to 2021. Apart from graphics, Knežević dealt with various media expressing a clearly defined artistic thought that was always based on the decisive role of the line as the primary expressive element.

Slobodan Knežević Abi (Bačko Dobro Polje, 1948) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Department of Graphics, in 1977 and master’s studies in 1979 in the class of Professor Marko Krsmanović. He is a member of ULUS and ULUV. From 1980, he was employed at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, from 1996 as a full-time professor for the subject Graphics with technology and Drawing with technology until his retirement in 1996. During his long artistic career, he exhibited graphics, drawings, ‘cardboards’, sculptures , collages and paintings at more than thirty solo exhibitions in the country and abroad and over three hundred collective exhibitions. He is the winner of seventeen awards for graphics and painting, the most significant of which are: ‘Zlatna Igla’, 67th Spring Exhibition of ULUS, Belgrade, 1995. ‘Veliki Pečat’ of Graphic Collective, Belgrade, 1996. ‘Srebrna Igla’ Užice 2005, First prize at the VI EX-YU graphics exhibition, Belgrade, 2012, Medal for overall creativity of the Vojvodina Culture Institute, 2013.
