Master’s Letter / Stage Design Exhibition

The ‘Master’s Letter’ exhibition will be on view in the District from 1 to 9 September at Radionica facility, location 4 and will remain open every day from noon to midnight.

The ‘Master’s Letter’ exhibition will be presented as the main part of the ‘Stage Design Exhibition’ within the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture programme arch.

It is dedicated to craftwork, i.e., knowledge, skills and experience in making (usually handcrafted) items and parts of decoration, costumes, props and puppets, in theatre workshops in the territory of the former Yugoslavia from 2006 to 2022.

Fifteen years after the last edition of the ‘Stage Design Exhibition’, we wish to focus on people who work in theatre and whose work we, as the audience, admire but never see up close. They do not go on stage and receive applause. They work in theatre craft workshops, in corners hidden from the eyes of the audience, in spaces swamped with leftover materials, excess wood, clothes on the floor, sawdust on the cutting table, with the specific smell of glue and paint, and fresh coffee, early in the morning.

This time, the main exhibition is dedicated only to people behind the scenes, and they have been brought into the spotlight. The works by craftsmen have been created in 16 theatres from Belgrade, Budva, Ljubljana, Novi Sad, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Subotica and Zagreb.

Curator and author of the concept: Tatjana Dadić Dinulović

Selection of items: Tatjana Dadić Dinulović and Darinka Mihajlović, better known as Selena Orb

Partners of the Kaleidoscope of Culture 2022 are Erste Bank, IDEA, DDOR, A1 Srbija and Heineken Srbija.
