Metroplex 2022 – 2122

The ‘Metroplex 2022 – 2122’ exhibition will open at Novo Mesto in Novo Naselje on 10 September, within the Kaleidoscope of Culture programme arch.

The project of the Novo kulturno naselje ‘Metroplex’ refers to the artist Dejan Ilić and the Japanese artist Akinori Oishi, who closely collaborate in shaping and spreading cultural and artistic consciousness among the citizens of Novi Sad.

By evolving the futuristic presentation of the future Cultural Centre in Novo Naselje, and the way of living in and around it, virtual templates will open the door of Japanese culture and art to the locals, and the other way round. The exchange of cultural and artistic heritage will take place in both directions and show the vision of development through the eyes of artists.

The artists and their vision agree that Japanese technology will be dominant for the entire course of civilisation in the next hundred years. Through the application of the AR (Augmentative Reality) technology on the construction site of the future building, the citizens of Novi Sad will have the opportunity to experience a different approach to cultural-artistic content, where works of art open the potential for new constructive ideas contributing the decentralisation of culture and art.

Dejan Ilić has a master’s degree in applied arts and he is a graphic designer with extensive experience in creating projects in the field of graphic communications and multimedia. As a music producer, he stands behind twelve albums of different musical genres. The artist is active on the Japanese art scene and mainly deals with illustrations. He participated in the creation of commercials for Mitsubishi Electric, Uniqlo, Coca Cola Japan. Akinori’s distinctive style is reflected in the innocent-looking characters who are always kind to children and adults.

Marko Jozić was born in Novi Sad in 1987. He graduated from Karlovci Grammar School and has BA in recording and sound design, which he studied at the Academy of Arts.
