Migration of the Serbs – Migration as an Artistic Case / Migrations in Art, the Art of Migration

The lecture ‘Migration of the Serbs – Migration as an Artistic Case’ will be held at the Gallery of Matica Srpska on 29 April at 7 p.m. This lecture is accompanying the exhibition titled ‘Migrations in Art, the Art of Migration“, organized as part of the Migrations programme arch.

Starting from historical foundations and symbolic notions characteristic of our region, the famous historical composition by Paja Jovanović, ‘Migration of the Serbs’, takes its rightful place in this exhibition. These are the several faces of one (similar) visual performance created almost two centuries after the historical event – the Great Migration of the Serbs under Arsenije III Čarnojević in 1690. Danilo Vuksanović, MA, one of the authors of the exhibition, and prof. Dr Branko Bešlin, historian, will be talking about the visual presentation of the exhibit, as well as the very historical event that inspired it.

The event is accessible to people with disabilities.
