‘Novi Sad, Guitar, World’ Exhibition
The exhibition called ‘Novi Sad, Guitar, World’ by Borislav Hložan, implemented as part of the Vojvodina Festival of Classical Guitar, will be open in the Egység Cultural Station from 8 to 12 February.
The exhibition will present photographs, documents and historical data that will illustrate (show) the development of classical guitar art in Novi Sad (as well as in other art centres throughout Vojvodina), starting from the 18th century and ending with the period from the second half of the 20th century to today.
The exhibition provides a concise but richly documented presentation of the acceptance and artistic growth of classical guitar, from the appearance of the manuscript of the first textbook in Serbian for this instrument from 1842 by Georgi Milanović in Novi Sad, through the work of the most important Yugoslav virtuoso and guitar pedagogue of the twentieth century Jovan Jovičić, until the formation of the Association of Guitarists of Vojvodina, whose activities today unite numerous activities for the further development of this instrument.
