One Person Crying: Women and War

The Exhibition ‘One Person Crying: Women and War’ will open as part of the Fortress of Peacе programme arch on 18 June in front of the Svilara Cultural Station at 1 p.m., and will be open until June 24, every weekday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Exhibition ‘One Person Crying – Women and War’ is an international travelling exhibition, a 35-year-old personal photo-essay of Marisa Roth, the internationally acknowledged freelance photojournalist, the documentary and art photograph, born and raised in Los Angeles. She worked for prominent media outlets from across the world, such as Тhe New York Times. Roth was a member of the photographic staff of Тhe Los Angeles Times magazine, which won the Pulitzer Prize in Best Spot News category for reporting on the riots in Los Angeles in 1992.

The exhibition deals with the indirect and direct impacts of the war on women in different countries and cultures. It has been inspired by a personal family tragedy related to Novi Sad, given that her grandparents lost their lives in the Novi Sad Raid in 1942.
The photographs were taken for over thirty years, covering more than ten war conflicts. This global photo essay deals with war’s indirect and direct impacts on women. The exhibition that toured the world was shown for the first time at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

The event is accessible to people with disabilities.
