Opening of the Exhibition / reCAPITULATION
The ReCapitulation exhibition will be set up in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina and the gallery space of the Šok zadruga (Shock Cooperative) from 3 of July until 2 of August, as the central activity of the project through which three decades of Led Art’s work will be viewed. The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 8:22 p.m.
The exhibition has three main segments that bring a review of three periods of work – ‘Led Art’ 1993-2002, ‘Art klinika’’ 2003-2012 and ‘Šok zadruga’ from 2013 to today. Led art began its activities as an informal group of artists gathered on the initiative of Nikola Džafo with the common goal of reacting to negative social tendencies in turbulent times with the utopian idea that art can change the world.
The actions of Led Art have a clear anti-war note, promote human rights and freedom, and through their activities, the group advocated for the improvement of the social position of artists and their right to dignified work. In accordance with social changes, the work method has also changed, but always with the basic principle of ethics before aesthetics.
The exhibitions will present the main performances and actions of Led Art through photographs, videos and reperformances. Through the exhibition and accompanying activities, three decades of work are completed. It is also an attempt to find an answer to the question of whether art has really managed to change something.
Within the project ‘ReCapitulation’, in addition to the exhibition, two performances will be held:
Performance ‘BioBridge – At Audience’s Behest’ – on Varadin Bridge (Rainbow Bridge), July 9 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Graphic performance ‘Graphic Cooperative – New Bridges’ – in the Amphitheater on the Quay of the victims of the Raid, on July 10 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Since its founding, MMC Led Art has been conducting activities aimed at affirming contemporary visual creativity, involving vulnerable groups in public flows, involving and affirming young artists and creators, popularizing contemporary art through performative activities in public space and fighting for ethics and dignity.
