Opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture / Multimedia Event ‘Unbreakable Bonds’
The multimedia event ‘Unbreakable Bonds’ will take place in the District on 8, 9 and 10 September, starting at 8.30 p.m., as part of the four-day opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, which will follow the gala opening ceremony at Korzo on 7 September.
Covering a period of 100 years, the multimedia event refers to the most turbulent century in history, and it was the District that witnessed all these events. From the twenties of the last century until today, the former industrial zone of Novi Sad has gone through numerous changes under the influence of socio-political events, so that today it has become a centre of contemporary creativity and presents a unique infrastructural and artistic concept. Therefore, the opening of the sixth Kaleidoscope of Culture brings a series of events that will present, through an artistic vision, some of the most significant events in the world and in our country, which marked the century behind us, and thus bring closer to the audience the importance of the District in the historical, social and artistic development of the city.
In a combination of different types of art, through a stunt and dance performance, theatre play, three exhibitions, six projections, a mural, a sculpture, video games and art installations – more than 300 artists will present their vision of unbreakable bonds to us at the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture!
Behind this demanding project is a team of creatives and excellent artists, led by the artistic director of the Kaleidoscope of Culture Monika Bilbija Ponjavić and the director of the multimedia event Maja Grgić. Mladen Stojanović and Željko Piškorić designed the scenography, Nataša Vranešević did the costume design, and Miloš Martinov and Dejan Ilić were the sound designers of the multimedia event Unbreakable Bonds. The author of the animation at the gate of the District and the Tetris video work is the artist Đorđe Popović, while Boris Butorac is in charge of the lighting design. Magic Effects is responsible for the special effects, the artist and sculptor Jugoslav Simić is behind the installation District inscribed with letters, while the creation of graffiti on the Berlin Wall in the District was entrusted to the students of Bogdan Šuput High School of Art. Part of this multimedia event is the play Unchristened Days, directed by actress Sonja Lešter, with assistants Dragana Milenković and Svjetlana Tomić Pilić, as well as actors – students of the Gymnasium Laza Kostić, SNP actor Jugoslav Krajnov, actors of the Novi Sad Theater Pongo Gabor, Daniel Husta, Atila Nemet and the actor from the Youth Theater Aleksa Ilić are also responsible for the performance of this play at the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture. The choreographer of the dance of the dancer Nađa Bjelanović, whom you will have the opportunity to see at the opening, is Marina Aranitović, while stuntmen from the KGB Stunt team will also be in charge on this unique occasion.
The muralists Artez, Nataša Konjević and Pablo Astrain are responsible for the visual painting of the District. Part of this multimedia event is the exhibition of posters of the Design of Culture of the District, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, then the Exhibition in the Workshop facility, by artists Petar Mirković, Tadija Janičić and Boris Lukić, as well as the exhibition Houses we built in the 90s, by Željko Grulović . The artistic experience in the District will be enriched by the game “It’s ‘just’ a place” by Lazar and Aleksandar Stojanović.
The artistic collaborators of the Unbreakable Bonds project are Anđelko Đukić and Darko Stantić. We would like to thank the Equestrian Center Novi Sad Fair and Verica Kovačević for their help in the realization of the project, as well as the artist Slavko Bogdanović.
The multimedia event ‘Unbreakable Bonds’ will be accompanied by a rich music programme, which will take place in the District on 8, 9 and 10 September.
