Opening of the Exhibition / Righteous Among the Nations
The exhibition ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ opens at 11 a.m., and you will have an opportunity to see the exhibition every workday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The exhibition ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ is a project that presents ordinary people and public figures from the territories of the former Yugoslavia who have received the title ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ from the state of Israel. It will be set at the Youth Forum Club in the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, from 19 June until 2 July, within the Fortress of Peace programme arch.
Since 2013, the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad has had a special segment in its work that deals with the culture of remembrance through the ‘Frozen Silence’ programme, commemorating the victims of the Novi Sad raid and the Holocaust.
Within the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2022 in June, we will organise a documentary exhibition dedicated to the ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, within which we will represent ordinary people and public figures from the territories of the former Yugoslavia who have received the title ‘Righteous Among the Nations’.
This project will present a significant segment of the joint past and the fight against Nazism and fascism. The project promotes universal human values such as humanity, altruism, freedom and the right to life. The exhibition aims to raise visibility and promote heroic and humanitarian actions of both public figures and ordinary people. It focuses on positive examples from our common history in order to improve the quality of today’s mutual relations and improve coexistence in our region.
