Peki Pele / Flags of the Future

Peki Pele will have a concert on Stage 1 in the Creative District on 30 April, as part of the Flags of the Future three-day event.

Peki Pele already started playing music while in the incubator, but he started doing in 2015 with the intention of serious publishing. He completed his first independent work in 2020. Peki’s First Band, Mornar & Blitva, still sounded closer to Limp Bizkit. After the members of Mornar & Blitva lost interest in the all-day jam sessions, Peki decided that it would be best to do everything himself.

Combining dance-pop with punk aesthetics and DIY production, Peki was labelled as an outsider. However, everybody agreed on one thing – it is impossible to stand still while Peki’s songs are playing.

He made his first EP called ‘Deguté’ between 2017 and 2020, often rejecting quite good songs and doubling the effort to include only crème de la crème, the best of the best. The value of ‘Deguté’ is in an optimistic, joyful outlook on life, although it includes litres and litres of sticky sweat released by dancing or any other method of secretion.

The name ‘Deguté is in its own way like yin and yang, something disgusting wrapped in the most romantic language in the world – French. As a kind of homage to the aesthetics of ugliness, Peki tells us to always look for the beautiful in the ugly, but also the ugly in the beautiful. Thematically, ‘Deguté’ may seem strange on the surface, but in the end, it comes down to love – love for yourself, lover for others, and love for life. ‘Deguté’ is a simple mantra glorifying small things like dancing, and all-day coffee drinking.

The philosophy of ‘Deguté’ opposes planning for the future, ‘Deguté’ is lived day by day, but what Peki can hope for is that in the future he will share his sweat with the audience in person, dancing through the night.

Details on other programs, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, shows, circus performances and concerts, which will be held on April 30 in the Creative District, within the ‘Flags of the Future’  program, can be found at this link.

‘Flags of the Future’ programme is supported by IDEA, DDOR, and A1 Srbija.

The event is finished.
