Shaping the Character

The children’s play ‘Shaping the Character’ by playwright Divna Stojanov, will be held on 10 September at the Mlin Cultural Station, as part of the Kaleidoscope of Culture Performing Arts Week.

Actress and director: Isidora Vlček

Sound designer: Filip Gotovac

The importance of the project is reflected in the creation and animation of a younger theatre audience and the formation and nurturing of cultural habits among the youngest age group. Also, the form that is the theatre of objects, a subdivision of puppetry, develops imagination and creativity because it demonstrates how children can play by bringing everyday objects to life.

The play talks about the development of personality and the importance of facing one’s own fears. It also didactically shows ways to overcome obstacles, thereby empowering children and providing them with practical tools for everyday challenges in life.

Wanting it to be as solid as the Eiffel Tower, and not a tower of cards, the girl named Anna embarks on a journey to shape her character.

The play ‘Shaping the Character’ was awarded the Pavle Janković Šola Award for the best contemporary monodrama for children by Zmaj Children Games and RTV, and the Actor’s Award at the 30th festival of monodrama for children, by Zmaj Children Games.

The project is part of the ‘Artists. Now!’ national call for artists, launched by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation within the Kaleidoscope of Culture.

From the very beginning, the implementation of the ‘Artists. Now!’ call has been supported by IDEA, which is part of the Mercator-S company.

The event is finished.
