Stevan Jović / Vojvodina Classical Guitar Festival

Stevan Jović will hold a concert at the Egység Cultural Station, within the Vojvodina Classical Guitar Festival and the Migrations programme arch, on 9 February 2022. He will be joined on stage by the guests Evita Jović and Roby Lakatos.

The concert begins at 7 p.m., and its programme will include works by Stevan Jović.

Stevan Jović is a concert performer of the younger generation, whose artistic path has led him from Šabac, through Novi Sad, all the way to the United States of America.

The development of the guitar in Novi Sad during the 20th century has long been overshadowed by the flourishing of this instrument in other cities of the former Yugoslavia, primarily Zagreb, Sarajevo, and later Belgrade. Guitarists such as the Greek Spiro Mytiakis and Jovan Kolarski lived and worked in Novi Sad, and thanks to them the guitar was present on the concert podiums, such as the guitar quartet that performed within the KUD ‘Svetozar Marković’.

Not until 1979 did the Isidor Bajić School of Music begin offering guitar lessons, with the German Ana Margaret-Vučak as the first pedagogue, who, through pioneering work, gradually managed to create the foundations for the further development of this art.

Today, Novi Sad is a centre of guitar art where new generations of guitarists are being formed, who are achieving very notable successes, both in the field of pedagogy and as performers.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the number of visitors is limited.
